140th Year Celebrations

Greetings from St. Xavier’s College - Mumbai, to all ALUMNI/AE!
We WELCOME you to the celebrations of the 140th year of St. Xavier’s: 1869-2009. The calendar year 2009 will see a series of celebrations, spread through the year, for alumni/ae and present students and for all well-wishers. We are especially pleased to welcome back to the College our alumni/ae, spread all over the world, to relive their days at St. Xavier’s College and to savour the nostalgia of those enriching experiences on campus, which several have generously called, “The best years of our lives”.
Our celebrations begin on Saturday 3rd January 2009 with the Inaugural Event: an Alumni Dinner. You are welcome to visit the College in session during the day and stay on for an Alumni Dinner in our Heritage First Quadrangle. It’s time to meet up with your old companions and other eminent alumni/ae of the College. A special welcome to those celebrating their 25th, 50th and 60th anniversaries of graduating from St. Xavier’s: the graduating batches of 1983, 1958 and 1948: Silver, Gold and Platinum!
We will end the year with a Finale: an Alumni Dinner on Sunday, the 27th of December 2009, another opportunity for those who were not able to make it for the January event. We will have a special event for the batches passing out in 1984, 1959 and 1949. All alumni/ae, young and old are encouraged to come celebrate the Xavier’s Tradition of Excellence.
We will fill the year with events surrounding JANFEST on the 24th, 25th and 26th of January: a festival of the best of Indian classical music, MALHAR on the 15th of August, ITHAKA: our Drama festival in November-December and other exciting events. The focus of our celebrations will be to bring you back to your alma mater, to have a peep into the life on campus. Academic events, highlighting the excellence St. Xavier’s aims for, are on the anvil.
This is an advance notice about our forthcoming plans, for those who need to book their dates and tickets well in advance, especially those living abroad. Please oblige us with your presence.
For now, we request all alumni/ae to log on to our website www.xaviers.edu and register in the Alumni Section. We will then have a database of all our alumni/ae, to enable us to send you information about our programmes and to enable you to contact each other through the College Website. A special request to spread this message to all alumni/ae you are in contact with, to help us reach every Xavierite.
PROVOCANS AD VOLANDUM – Provoking you to fly: May this motto continue to inspire us all to greater heights, to more significant contributions to global society.
